If you have a heavy foreign accent, something that you may want to consider is American accent training. My first job as a disability discrimination consultant was hard to come by because of my heavy French accent. It is no secret that everyone wants to come to America for the work opportunities that are available, however these days with the economy in bad shape and it being an employer’s market, you need to do everything you can to make yourself the most eligible candidate possible. If you are someone with a pretty heavy accent, removing it may make you a more appealing candidate, and this is where Mojsin’s “Mastering The American Accent” can help you to excel.
Mastering The American Accent
What is great about this book is that it is divided into very simple step by step chapters to take you from foreign speaker to one that will sound like a native. If you are looking to learn accent training techniques, this is definitely the book you need to get. It also does come with playback software and an Audio CD that will further take your learning to the next level, and it is a must have for anyone looking to sound more natural in their every day lives.
The book is also a great alternative to expensive classes, and it is very easy to follow. I would say that it is helpful in reducing your accent, though of course like anything else, practice makes perfect. However this book is definitely a great start, and with it you’ll find that speaking like an American is actually a lot easier than you think.

Back in the day when I was looking for IT support work and worked part-time also as a researcher I knew that I needed to do something to take my business to the next level. If you own a business of any sort, you understand the importance of online marketing. However if you are someone who is part of the older generation like myself, there is much to be learned about getting around the net these days. My friend turned me on to the importance of having a strong social media presence. Having a successful business also means having a strong online presence, and to do that you need to take advantage of social media promotion. Whether you have a site that sells used car parts or maybe discovered the best way to lose weight having a strong media presence is essential to success. Merely grabbing your business web hosting and propping up a site isn’t enough to cut the mustard these days. Things like Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube can all play pivotal roles in whether or not your business is a success, and you need to know how to use them if you want to be successful.
One of my favorite books on this right now is Social Media Marketing For Dummies by Singh and Diamond. This book like any of the dummy series explains things so simply and thoroughly that even a child would get it. If you are not tech savvy, this book is definitely a God send and a must have for your online business.
My Top Social Media Book
The book thoroughly goes over step by step how to build a strong social media presence. Whether it be building Facebook fan pages or learning how to get twitter followers this book is jam packed with information that will get people buzzing about your business. It also gives some helpful seo tips and underscores the importance of developing search engine traffic as well. It truly is your playbook to run a successful attack in today’s online world.
Though I am not necessarily a fan of the dummies series, I can definitely make an exception for this book. So if Facebook and Twitter marketing leaves you scratching your head, this may definitely be the book for you.

One of my favorite books that I have read this year was Bill O’Reilly’s “Killing Lincoln”. Whether you like him or not, O’Reilly is a great author and he shows a side of Abraham Lincoln that most people don’t know about. For the part people know Lincoln as the president that freed the slaves and perhaps for the Gettysburg Address, however the book goes deep into the psyche of Lincoln as well as paints a great picture of a man that would change the face of America.
O’Reilly’s Killing Lincoln
The book also offers a plethora of American History facts that are interesting and typically not taught in your average classroom. It is clear that there was much research done to right this book, and the information is presented in a way that even young adults will appreciate it as well. So many historical accounts read like school history books, however killing Lincoln reads like a story book that you’ll have trouble putting down. If there is one book that you get this holiday season, this would definitely be it, and it would probably make a great stocking stuffer as well.
